More than 5,000 miles separates the members of Hollow Branches, they have only been in the same room a handful of times, each is in several other bands, and none of this is likely to change.
In spite of these obstacles, Hollow Branches has managed to record two EPs in 2009 alone. With a sound equal parts ambient, rock and trip hop, “Words are Fire” received a digital release in February and was downloaded no less than 500 times. Since that time, five new tracks have been written for their second EP, “Anchored in Sleep.” Thematically inspired by dreams, insomnia, nostalgia and morning, “Anchored in Sleep” finds Hollow Branches expanding their sound with elements of progressive and post rock, as well as glitch.

Created out of the desire to explore ideas he couldn’t in his other bands, Marius Sjøli (Formloff, Hollow Branches, Self Spiller) formed Indelible with Robert Hunter, Jason Walton and Mona Sjøli in the summer of 2008. Their debut EP, “Introduction,” a fusion of rock and electro beats was released a short time later.
Before the debut EPs release, Marius and Robert began writing for what became “Remnants in Red,” a dark, progressive rock record with a storyline inspired by Giallo films. “Remnants in Red” combines the dark bombast of Goblin, the compositions of Stockhausen with the skeletal electronics of Coil and Ulver to create an album unlike anything you have heard before.
“Remnants in Red” will be released by Strix Records this summer.
